I like em' BIG

by Alexa1000 @ 2005-11-09 - 20:58:38

I am fascinated by big cities.

When I was a little girl I had dreams of going to NYC. Some of my grandmother’s soap operas were filmed in NYC and I remember watching them just for that reason. I would imagine the actors finishing a day’s filming and then stepping out into a wonderful life that only a big city can offer.

As soon as I could dial a phone and read I looked in the phone book for the area code for NYC. I dialed the 3 digit area code and then made up the last 7 digits, which constitute a proper phone number. To my surprise and pleasure someone answered the phone. I asked where I had called and the reply was, “Queens”. I then hung up lol! “Wow!” I thought,” I have talked to someone in Queens!”

It took me until I was 30 years old to make it to NYC. And just like I had dreamed I drove into the city as opposed to arriving by airplane.

For the last year I have had a strong desire to go to Hong Kong. I love a city that is so big that you can get lost in it and end up in some place where you never planned to be but are happy to be there anyway.

Thank you sweetie. I will make it. I have traveled to many places and each journey began with the desire to go.

Miss Tootsie, I am sickened!! Surely that is not you perched on that ledge. It makes my head swim. If it is you, how could you???? I am glad I never knew. But, Sister, not Hong Kong, Shang Hai! Your grand daddy spent a lot of time there when he was on the Asian Station and I have a fascinating show about it during WWII that you must watch when you are here. But not Hong Kong, really China, that I would love to go to also, Shang Hai.

Well, all big cities look the same to me, and I don't know enough about Hong Kong to tell that's it in the picture. And the person is so far away it could have been you. How can you tell it's a guy? It looks like you with your hair pinned up. I still say Shang Hai is better.

Funny banter ladies, but seriously mom even I can tell that is not Val, are you high! None of us is likely to be sitting on the ledge of a building god only knows how high up. We might appear to be a little crazy but we are not off our nut.
